How To Use Trading Features On Gate

How to Conduct Spot Trading (on Web)

Step 1: Log in to your account. Click on “Spot” under “Trade” on the top navigation bar.

If you don’t have an account, Register here for free

Step 2: Search and enter the pair you want to trade in the Market section on the left.

Step 3: Set buying/selling prices and buying/selling amount/total in the placing order section on the right . Then click on “Buy”/“Sell”.

(Note: The percentages under the “Amount” box refer to certain percentages of the account balance.)

Step 4: Click on the latest trades on the order book to set the buying/selling price conveniently.

You can also place a market order. Enter the amount and click on “Buy”/“Sell”.

Step 5: Confirm the price and amount. Then click on “Confirm Order”.

Step 6: After successfully placing an order, you will be able to view it in the order section. You can also cancel the order here by clicking on “Cancel”.

Spot Margin Trading Guide

1. Log in to your Gate.io account and click on “Trade” – “Spot” in the top navigation bar to enter the spot trading page.

2. Enable Spot Margin Trading

Method 1: After entering the “Spot” page, you can turn on the “Margin Trading” in the order area on the right side. A pop-up window will appear for the first time, introducing Spot Margin Trading to you and asking for your consent to enable it. After checking the box, you agree to the relevant agreements. Then you can click “Confirm” to enable Spot Margin Trading. Once “Margin Trading” is enabled, it will auto-borrow funds you need.


3. Method 2: After entering the “Spot” page, you can click on the settings button at the top to enter the trading settings page. Click on “Account Mode” and select “Multi-Currency Margin mode” to enable it.


4. After enabling Margin Trading, the system will auto-borrow the funds you need. The order confirmation pop-up window will display the transaction amount, borrowing amount, and daily interest rate.


5. At the bottom right of the spot trading page, you can view the “Spot Account Assets”. You can click “Repay” to repay your loans.

6. At the bottom right of the spot trading page, you can view the “Spot Account Assets” and check your assets and account data.

7. Users can click on “Wallet” – “Spot Account” to enter the spot account dashboard and view the assets and account data.


8. You can also repay via “Loan Management”.

9. Click “Loan Management” – “Loan Details” and you can view the history of borrowing, repayment, and interest.

 

How to Open, Reduce or Close a Future Position?

Open Position

Note: One-way / Hedge mode are in the same way.

You can choose “Limit” or “Market” when placing a contract order. When the market price is predicted to rise, place an order to buy a long position, otherwise, place an order to sell a short position.

Limit Order


Steps:

  1. Click to select cross/isolated margin mode and set a suitable leverage.
  2. Input the order price manually or click the price in the “Orderbook” on the left to fill it directly.
  3. Input the order amount.
  4. Select “BUY(LONG)” or “SELL(SHORT)”.
  5. Click the “Confirm” to place an order after confirming the information is correct.

If the order is not filled immediately or is not fully filled, you can view it in “Open Orders“.
Click ① if you want to cancel the order, and click ② if you want to modify the order price and quantity.

After an order is filled, you can view it in “Positions”, and the margin can be adjusted here in isolated mode ( in cross mode, the entire balance of the futures account is used as margin) .

Note: Margin adjustment will result in a new calculation of the closing price, so please note the risk of closing.

Market Order


Steps:

  1. Click to select cross/isolated margin mode and set a suitable leverage.
  2. Input the order amount.
  3. Select “BUY(LONG)” or “SELL(SHORT)”.
  4. Click the “Confirm” to place an order after confirming the information is correct.

Note: The market order will be filled immediately at the market price, not pending.

How to become a copier?

To sucessfully copy trading strategies on our copy trading platform please refer to the guide below

1.1 The Copy Process
The complete copy process:
Go to the Copy Trading page> select a trader> sign copier agreement> set copy parameters> Start copying
Note 1: A copy agreement needs to be signed before your first copy;
Note 2: The actual income of the copier may be inconsistent with that of the lead trader. For details, please refer to the precautions 4.

Copying Detailed steps
<1> Enter the Copy Trading page, screen out excellent traders.

<2>Select the trader, click the trader’s profile photo to enter his page, and check the trader’s data

<3>A copy agreement needs to be signed before your first copy. So please agree to and sign the agreement.

<4> For Quick Copy Mode: set the copy amount and leverage multiple, and the rest of the parameters will be executed according to the default parameters. Then click “Quick Copy”. The pop-up box will remind you to confirm the copying parameters then you can start to copy.

<5>For Advanced Copy, click [Advanced Copying Mode] to enter a detailed

page of copying parameter settings:
Basic copy parameters: This is mandatory. If the user does not set the custom parameters of the future separately, all the copy will be carried out according to the basic copy parameters.

Customize copying parameters: The user can select the future type to be copied. Users can set custom copy parameters for different futures. Then the futures with custom copy parameters can be executed according to custom parameters, and the rest of the futures will be executed according to the basic copy parameters.


<6> Full copy mode
The copier completely follows the trader in accordance with his leverage multiple, cross margin/isolated margin mode, and selects all the futures led by the trader. Then follow the trader to open/add a position or close/reduce a position in accordance with the trader’s fund proportion, which will makes the copier consistent with the trader in ROI.

<7>In the order information of [Copy Mode], you can click the [Close] button on the current order to close the position, which then will be closed at the market price immediately;

1.2 Copier’s Margin
Every time you follow a trader, the funds of the spot account will be transferred to the sub-account in the form of a virtual sub-account, and the sub-account will only follow the trader to do copy trading. After the copy trading, it will be liquidated. After deducting the share and transaction fees, the remaining funds will be transferred to the spot account.
